MY ROUTEMASTER From the time of my childhood I was fascinated about the London bus.

THE ROUTEMASTER.

When my dream came true, to touch and board, to get on and off them, I was 37 years old, but the attraction and admiration was still there. It was a sad news to hear that they were finished and rather than going into retirement, they would be scrapped.

Days before the end of THE ROUTEMASTER, I went to London and started to make different sketches of them. Seeing my passionate interest a bus-driver took me to their depot in Hackney.

Tens of ROUTEMASTER’s were waiting their turn and coming and going.

Their funeral was only 2 days away and there was a nostalgia around. The bus-driver had worked all his working life on them and told me he would have to take new driving lessons for the new bendy bus. I was introduced to the administration and have been allowed to sketch around the depot.

I returned the next day and was all day busy in my way immortalising THE ROUTEMASTER for me and maybe for others too. The result was a great number of sketches and watercolours, big and small, works which were shown to the public in a special dedicated exhibition in London at Gallery 19 in South Kensington.

In this specific art-piece catching also a poignant advert on the side of the Routemaster was adding a special significance.

Each print produced is a unique piece of art. All of the pieces are hand signed and numbered by Adrian Tuchel and are supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist. The numbers on the print denote the individual piece number in the edition over the total edition size. (i.e. 9/25).Paper variety, printing technique, the size of the edition and the consistent quality of each print in the edition are Adrian’s choice of subject matter and style.

A. Small Limited Editions
The small limited edition series, often called original prints, are produced in a small quantity. in only 25 pieces.

This work was printed on 170 g acid-free quality paper using a four colour process printer for high quality image. The original is in possession of the artist.
