Junior Prime Brass (JPB) began in 2010  as a quintet for the children and pupils of Prime Brass, and in 2011 developed into the standard brass dectet you hear today.

The players, who are aged 13 to 18, attend various schools in Cambridgeshire and further afield in East Anglia. JPB gives regular performances in Cambridge in venues such as King's College Chapel and the West Road Concert Hall, and has appeared in the National Festival of Music for Youth in Birmingham and at the Primary Proms in London's Royal Albert Hall.

In November 2016, JPB returned to the RAH to perform in the Music for Youth Proms JPB is coached and conducted by Christopher Lawrence, who played tuba in Prime Brass from 1997 to 2011.


A Young Person’s Guide to the Brass Family

Junior Prime Brass (JPB) will introduce you to all the members of the orchestral brass instrument family, including solo features for Horn, played by Annemarie Federle (Brass Finalist in BBC Young Musician 2018); and for Euphonium, played by Cameron Scott (BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Award Finalist 2018).
